he American Foundation of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AFAOM) is an independent, non-profit foundation dedicated to improving public healthcare in the Greater Houston area. AFAOM is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Purpose
The Foundation understands the need for high quality education and comprehensive training of qualified acupuncturists and researchers in the field of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. AFAOM seeks to encourage and support qualified personnel in the study and research of this field. The Foundation also strives to promote public awareness, to educate the public in healthcare issues and concerns, and to promote the integration of Oriental and Western medicines.
